Week 7- Summary of the Weeks

Throughout the weeks, looking over the different aspects that could affect the classroom and students’ learning has shown that there are many factors that can affect the classroom. From how you set up your classroom with the colors, desks, and lighting to how you teach with different teaching styles and social & emotional learning in the classroom, and how you make it a culturally inclusive classroom.

Overall, as a teacher, you want to make sure that every student who enters your classroom feels safe and comfortable being themselves and feels welcomed, no matter what their background is. A well-designed classroom environment can play a crucial role in shaping students, their learning experiences, and their well-being. The factors of lighting, desk arrangement, color choices, teaching styles, and the social-emotional climate all play a role in students’ engagement, focus, and the overall feeling in the classroom. Having natural and well-balanced lighting can help boost energy and concentration, while having a well-laid-out desk arrangement can help encourage collaboration or focus, depending on the activity between students. Different color schemes can affect the mood and motivation. When using calm tones, it helps promote relaxation, while bright hues help inspire creativity. With diverse teaching styles, it ensures that all learners are supported in different ways for their needs in learning, and a positive social and emotional environment can help foster respect, confidence, and a sense of belonging for students. Altogether, these elements can help create a dynamic and supportive space for students to thrive academically and personally while learning.
