Bundle Dye

Artist Statement

  1. What steps did you take to create your artwork?

The first step was grabbing the cloth to work on and picking out which materials I wanted to use to create different colours once the cloth is steamed. Once I picked out the materials I tightly wrapped up the cloth with a string and added my name onto the end of the leftover string.

  1. What challenges did you face? How did you work through them?

There wasn’t any challenge that I had faced.

  1. What do you like/dislike about your work? Why?

The final product came out different than I expected, but with this art, you never know what you are going to get because the colors don’t show until you steam it. I wanted my piece to be mostly pink and purple and just experiment with the colours, but I did not expect there would be so much yellow on the piece.

  1. What did you title your artwork? Why?

This artwork is called bundle dye because it is using environmental materials.

  1. What did you learn by creating this artwork?

Whatever you had in mind it can turn out completely different and mine had turned out better than i had expected.

  1. If you could do it again, would you change anything? What and why?

I would try to have less yellow and more pink and other colors. This can be changed by adding more different materials. I would also try doing a pattern to see how that would turn out instead of doing random things everywhere.
