Collborative Partner Painting

Artist Statement

  1. What steps did you take to create your artwork?

The first step that was taken was taping our canvas with the design we wanted and then picking out the colours we wanted. There were three options we could do for colours using the colour wheel (analogous, complementary, triadic, monochromatic). The colors i picked were dark and light blue and dark and light green with white. Once are colors were chosen are partners were picked. Between me, and my partener we talked through how we wanted our paintings, and we both agreed on no specific way we wanted them to turn out. This brought out creativity. For every spot that was filled, we would switch canvases and pallets and do the same thing until the paintings were finished.

  1. What challenges did you face? How did you work through them?

Trying to find out what colours to use, but also to make each section on both paintings different, so no section would be the same. How I faced these challenges was by picking my favourite colours and trying to be very creative with different textures and brush strokes.

  1. What do you like/dislike about your work? Why?

What I liked about my painting is how I got to work with someone who i dont get to work with very much, and how we both didn’t care what we did, so I got to be very creative. What i didnt like was how some of the tape bled with the paint, and there wasnt some clean lines.

  1. What did you title your artwork? Why?

I titled this painting a collaborative partner painting because I got to work with a partner, and we had to talk through the process.

  1. What did you learn by creating this artwork?

Using communication can make both sides of the artwork have the outcomes that were intended.

  1. If you could do it again, would you change anything? What and why?

Yes, if I were to do this again i would make sure that all the tape is flat down with no air bubbles and make fewer sections because it took a long time to finish my painting compared to my partner.
