Experience with Social Media

When using social media nowadays, it is seen in everyday life between TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, and Facebook. With my experience with social media is I am on it every day because of my phone. With the new generations, everyone has a phone from a young age, which can be an issue. Constantly being on my phone is a bad habit for everyone because using Snapchat is the way I contact my friends. No one gets numbers, but instead they give out their preferred social media platform.

Instagram

Instagram is a free social media platform where anyone is able to share photos, videos, and messages with their friends. Accounts can be private or available to anyone. You are able to create a profile, where you can post photos, short videos, reels, or stories. On Instagram, you are able to like, comment, and message others, and it can be used to share what your hobbies are, trends, and shopping. I personally use Instagram to follow my friends, family, and creators, to post on my stories, and pictures of what I do in my life, like trips and concerts.

Tiktok

TikTok is a platform where you can post short videos, where people can watch and create videos that are usually 15 seconds to a few minutes long. Within this app, you are able to watch an endless amount of videos that are funny, music-related, life hacks, trends, and much more. You are also able to create your own videos with music, effects, filters, and different editing tools. I use this app to follow creators, scroll on my FYP (For You Page), and share videos with my friends.

Snapchat

Snapchat is a social media and messaging app where your photos and videos, called snaps, disappear after they are viewed. You are able to post stories that disappear after 24 hours and make private stories that you get to pick who is one them. Within this app, you are able to start streaks with your friends that you talk to on a daily basis, use filters that create fun effects on your face or backgrounds. But you are also able to view the snap map. This is where you can see where your friends are if they have their location turned on, but also, you are able to create a bitmoji. A bitmoji is a character you make that represents you; you can pick your bitmoji’s outfits, facial features, and hair colour/ style.

Pintrest

Pinterest is a platform that is a visual discovery and inspiration, where people can save ideas using pictures that are called pins. You are able to search for ideas such as outfits, recipes, room decor, crafts, and teaching ideas. While saving ideas with images and videos, you are able to organize them into specific categories that are called boards. On this platform, you can personalize your boards based on your interests. I personally use Pinterest to explore ideas for crafts, nails, and outfit ideas for different seasons.

Facebook

Facebook is a social media platform where people are able to connect with friends, family, groups, and communities. Anyone is able to post photos, videos, and updates for their friends and also add friends to be able to see their posts within their news feed. Within this social media platform, you are able to join groups that are based on your interests, such as teaching, hobbies, and local communities. Also within this app, you are able to use Messenger, which is a seperate app, to chat or video call with your friends. You are also able to buy/sell items on the marketplace. Facebook is one of the oldest and largest social networks that is used for staying connected, sharing life updates, and participating in online communities with your friends.
