Epic! Books

For this weekly reflection I will be looking at the use of Epic! Books

The use of Epic! Books is a platform where students and teachers can go to find online books from all genres and reading levels. This site has multiple resources when reading such as read to me, videos, and audiobooks. Epic! Books also has a feature that you are able to heart your books or books you want to read, you can earn badges with readings, and it automatically saves your progress.

How you can utilize in the classroom with making each of your students an account within your classroom. During reading times some students can read physical books and the other half reading with the iPads.

There are physical limitations when using this site such as paying fees for more hours of reading. Students are only guaranteed 1 hour a week of reading when using this site for when students wanting to read at home. Another limitation is the subscription cost for home use. Educators are able to use Epic! Books for free for their students but only between the times of Monday-Friday 7am to 3pm. When using the classroom teacher account parents have no access to what their child reads. This makes parents half to purchase Epic! Books unlimited that costs $11.99 a month. Another limitation when using Epic! Books is the use of intrernet and having a stable internet conection when using this resource and making sure there is electronic for your students.
