Stop Motion videos

stop motion videos are videos that are a animation technique where you move objects slightly in small steps and you physically move them. each movement is photographed frame by frame, and when the photos are played in the sequence, it creates the illusion that the objects are moving on their own.

this video was taken in class when were playing around with making stop motion videos with are peers. learning how to make them and using the app stop motion.

stop motion is an app you are able to get on apple and android, the app lets you take all the photos for your video and then plays them frame by frame. once you finish your stop motion you are able to edit it and add music directly in the app.

on october 7th, 2025 the EKTEP year 2 class had a in-situ take place at an elemntary school in the area, to teach a grade 3 class about stop motion videos. we had explained how stop motion worked, the app we would be using, and deviding into small groups. for the groups it was 3 teacher candidates with 3-4 students. once we had broken off into groups we had deiceded what we would be doing for are video with the charcters which were the students desk pets, the setting, and what was happening. once we shared are ideas, we had the kids draw out their ideas in frames on a storybored worksheet. then we had started filming and then editing and adding music for are stop motion videos. then we had shared them with the rest of the class.

the students had a lot of making stop motion videos but for next time we should do smaller groups because we had found that the third teacher canidate had nothing to do. but also some of the students didnt get to participate because there was so many of them. if it was smaller groups some of the students wouldnt feel left out and same with the teacher canidate.

overall using stop motion can teach student to be creative with thier thoughts, using thier imagination, story telling & literacy, fine motor skills, technology skills, and collaboration & communication. but also students are able to express their creativity and bringing it to life with their ideas and stop motion can be a great teaching tool for teachers.
